What is cholesterol?
The cholesterol you all have heard about this word a lot of time. It’s a waxy substance that is produced by your liver and obtained by eating animal products such as meat, dairy products, and eggs. However, it will be dependent on the food which you are consuming.
They are of two types in which one is HDL and the second one is LDL cholesterol.
HDL cholesterol may be beneficial for your health when there is a high level of bad LDL that can increase the risk of heart disease, heart attack, and Stroke.
Tips to lower your cholesterol levels
1:- Prefer food rich in Soluble Fiber
Soluble fiber attracts water and turns to gel during digestion. Soluble fiber is mostly found in Nuts, seeds, beans, peas, and some fruits and vegetables. If there will be regular consumption of the soluble fiber then there will be a 5-10 percent reduction in both total and bad LDL cholesterol.
2:- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
Eating fruits and vegetables will help you to lower the LDL cholesterol levels. In a day if you keep the intake of the fruits and vegetables every day like in every meal then there can be a 6% lower LDL cholesterol level than the people who don’t add fruits and vegetables to there diet.
3:- Use herbs and spices in cooking
Herbs and Spices have been used for ages till now and these works are the natural remedies for our body because these powerhouses are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Mostly which are used garlic, turmeric and ginger are especially effective in lowering cholesterol when consumed regularly.
4:- Consume more Unsaturated Fats
Fat is categorized as saturated and unsaturated fat, unsaturated fats are known to be the healthy fats and they are important to include as part of your healthy diet, these fats help reduce the risk of high blood cholesterol levels and it also has some other health-related benefits. Unsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature.
5:- Avoid Artificial Trans Fats
Trans fats can be found in red meat and dairy products. Trans fats are generally produced by hydrogenating or adding hydrogen to unsaturated fats such as vegetable oil just to change the structure and make them solidify at room temperature. Artificial trans fats are banned from use in restaurants and processed foods sold in the USA.
